This summer, PAEA’s Government Relations team will be launching the Association’s inaugural Policy Summit. The Summit will bring together faculty and students from participating PA programs across the country to learn more about health and education policy, hear from leaders and government stakeholders, engage in advocacy at the federal level, and network with colleagues and peers who share a passion for making a difference on behalf of PA education, patients, and the profession. Whether you are a seasoned veteran in grassroots advocacy or simply someone who would like to explore the policy-making process for the first time, we hope to see you in Washington, DC for this exciting new opportunity.
CME: This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to apply for 6 AAPA Category 1 CME credits from the AAPA Review Panel. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined.

On July 10, participants will arrive to Washington, DC and attend a welcome evening reception from 6:00 to 8:00 pm (ET). The dress code for the reception will be business casual.
On July 11, participants will attend a policy and advocacy training that will feature speakers from PAEA leadership and key policy stakeholders. The training will also include breakfast and lunch provided by PAEA and provide opportunities for participants to meet with the other faculty and students who will attend their congressional meetings and plan effective meeting approaches together. The location of the training will be the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Learning Center at 655 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, which is walking distance from the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel (0.4 miles), and the dress code will be smart casual. More information will be provided on the training agenda as well as the line-up of speakers closer to the date of the event.
On July 12, before heading to Capitol Hill to conduct congressional meetings with their elected officials, all participants will meet at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Learning Center located at 655 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, which is walking distance from the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel (0.4 miles). This will allow participants to ask any last-minute questions about their meetings or the overall structure of the day. Breakfast will be provided by PAEA. The dress code for the day will be business, and buses arranged by PAEA will transport participants from the AAMC Learning Center to Capitol Hill and back again at the end of the event. The day will conclude at 2:00 pm (ET) and participants are welcome to take separate transportation to depart if that would be helpful in saving some time getting to the airport.

Registration
No, you must be a faculty member at a PA program to register for this event. Additionally, only 1 faculty member may complete this form on behalf of their program and must register all other student/faculty participants from their program.
No. However, the registration form only allows PA programs to register a maximum of 10 participants. If your program would like to register more than 10 participants, please contact cmajewski@paeaonline.org to arrange additional registrations. PAEA will accommodate 100 student/faculty participants total for this event on a first-come first-served basis.
The faculty member who completes the registration form must be able to provide the following information for all student/faculty participants:
- First name,
- Last name,
- Email address,
- Dietary Restrictions, and
- 9-digit ZIP code for home mailing address.
Please note that the 9-digit ZIP code associated with the personal mailing address of each participant must be submitted instead of a 5-digit ZIP code for PAEA to accurately determine which congressional offices participants will meet with during the event. Event Logistics and Materials
On July 11, at the start of the policy and advocacy training, you will receive a schedule that lists the congressional offices you will be meeting with, the time of the meeting, the address for each office, the names of the attendees who will join you for the meeting, and other relevant information that will assist you in navigating Capitol Hill. Each attendee will have 2-3 meetings (depending upon office availability) and the offices you meet with will be determined by the 9-digit home mailing address ZIP code that was provided for you during the registration process. Please note that, if one of your representatives is unavailable, you may be placed in another group/office to ensure everyone has at least two meetings.
Two weeks before the event, PAEA staff will provide all participants with a final agenda for the Policy Summit as well as talking points for your congressional meetings, fact sheets related to the issues you will be discussing/advocating for, PAEA’s Grassroots Advocacy Resource Guide that details initial best practices for engaging with congressional offices, and a state fact sheet with information on the prevalence of PAs and PA education within your state. Make sure to familiarize yourself with all of these materials to ensure a smooth and successful experience.
