Principal Didactic Faculty - Physical Assessment & Diagnostic Methods

Description: The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Charleston Southern University is seeking a qualified candidate who will participate in didactic and clinical instruction, admissions, advising, and assessment in the program. Ideal candidates would have a minimum of three years of experience as a practicing PAs and would have experience in higher education. This is a 12-month full-time position, which reports to the Program Director.

Responsibilities: Review and revise, as necessary, the mission statement, goals, and competencies for the program. Provide student instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Evaluate student performance and ensure the availability of remedial instruction. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curriculum. Evaluate the program by participating in the program's ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes. Participate in the recruitment of and selection of applicants for admission to the PA program. Participate in academic advising of students. Participate on program committees as assigned by the Program Director, such as the Academic and Professionalism Progress Committee, Admissions Committee, Policy Committee, Curriculum Committee, and other ad-hoc committees as necessary. Participate in state and national PA organizations as necessary to promote the program and the profession. Represent the PA program through service on committees at the University level as required. Pursue faculty development in activities outside the program, such as clinical practice or scholarly activities agreed upon by the Program Director and the individual. Perform other duties as determined by the Program Director from time to time. Of note, principal faculty must not participate as health care providers for students in the program, except in an emergency.

Qualifications: PA with a master's degree or higher from an accredited academic institution, current NCCPA certification, and eligibility for licensure in South Carolina.
