ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

Colorado Mesa University invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor to teach in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. This is a full-time tenure track or clinical track, 12-month position.

The standard teaching load is 30 credit hours per year; courses may be assigned as in-person, online, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to the department and profession are expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop and coordinate course design and delivery, and participate in the evaluation of didactic and clinical curriculum.

Participate in the admissions process and the applicant screening process.

Teach assigned courses in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Provide student academic advising and evaluation.

Assist in clinical site visits.

Participate in ARC-PA accreditation processes and program/university assessment.

Complete professional development activities and service to the University and community.

Participate in the program's ongoing self-assessment process.

Administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Physician Assistant with the following:

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado.

OR

A physician with the following:

  • Board-certified Doctor of Medicine / Osteopathy with a full unrestricted CO license or eligibility to obtain such licensure.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience
  • Experience with precepting students
  • Active in community services and participation/leadership in local, regional, or national Physician Assistant or other medical organization
  • Earned academic doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline.
